SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-- Students at Cowden Elementary received warm gifts Thursday from a local church. Thanks to the generosity of Seminole Baptist Church, each student will head into winter with a new coat. Seminole is an official Springfield Public Schools partner in education. Volunteers from the church handed out the coats and helped the students place their names inside. This is the first year for the church to organize Coats for Cowden. The volunteers gave out 275 coats to the students. Seminole's Family Pastor, Kevin Williams, says the event was like Christmas Day for the students and the church members.
