City Utilities customers could face series of electric rate hikes

Springfield - During a special study session the Board of Public Utilities today reviewed the 2014 Annual Operating Budget for City Utilities. The plan includes funds for operational needs and capital expenditures for fiscal year 2014, as well as, on-going preventive maintenance of electric lines, water mains and natural gas service renewals. Eleven million dollars is budgeted for improvements on emissions systems based on the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) Rule, and $3.8 million for construction of a new transit transfer facility.
